Being a leader was never something that I thought I would be. Never something that I thought I could be. I used to think that, of course, there were leaders out there but they were people who were born with certain characteristics that made them able to lead others. I now know that that means I was in the "awareness" level of leadership. I now know so much more about leadership and how it is a group process and how everyone has the potential to influence others, all it takes it is a common goal and some heart. I am thankful that I was persuaded to take LEAD 201 and try out the LEADership Minor because I now know that learning about myself and learning to lead is something that will take me further, not just in my education but in making my life meaningful.
This blog showcases the work from this semester and the intrapersonal awareness that was gained, the first step in leadership is to develop yourself to reach the point where leadership becomes a much more broad concept. Many quotes about life and love say that you can't help others, unless you can help yourself and the same goes for leadership. You must first understand yourself, your values and strengths, before you can go forward into an interpersonal and social development. I am excited to see what the future holds with this experience in leadership.
